Dollar USA Rentals Cars
Dollar Thrifty, founded in 1965, is one of the largest rental car companies within the leisure section in North America. The company offers a young fleet of approx. 17,000 vehicles which mostly contains Chrysler models.
Supplemental Liability Insurance
The government required liability insurance included by the rental car companies in the United States is considered insufficient by independent experts. The coverage required by law ranges from US-$ 0 (basically no insurance coverage) to a maximum of US-$ 60,000. We strongly recommend adding a supplemental liability insurance package; otherwise you will personally be held responsible for any damages. In all "PLUS" packages a Supplemental Liability Insurance with US-$ 1 million in coverage is included directly from Dollar (coverage amounts reflect current coverage, subject to change). Coverage directly by Dollar means that in case of an accident the claim will be handled directly through Dollar with no upfront cost to you!
Toll Charges (Pass24©)
Dollar offers you the Pass24© service at selected rental locations. The cost of the Pass24© is a flat fee which already includes all toll charges. The Pass24© can only be bought at the time of pick-up and only for the entire rental period; purchasing the Pass24© only for individual rental days, or after you picked-up the vehicle, is not possible. If you decide not to purchase the Pass24©, but still use a SunPass Express lane during your travels, you will be charged a fee per incidence or occurrence in addition to the toll charges incurred.
Notice: If you want to travel along the Florida Turnpike from Miami to Key West, you will need to purchase a SunPass; this 47 mile stretch does not accept cash or credit cards anymore for toll charges. In case you do not have a SunPass, you can simply take U.S. 1 south from Miami Beach to Key West, or, if you are traveling from Orlando, you can take the Florida Turnpike to the Miami-Dade County line and then turn onto I-95 south, which will then turn into U.S. 1 later on.
